About The Art
When people ask "What are your paintings about and the motivation behind them"? I usually reply something to the effect of, "My paintings are mostly about nature. They are about the land, the water, the sky, and the light that illuminates them in ways that make our planet an endless canvas of beauty. My motivation is to capture that beauty and the feelings it stirs in me. Hopefully those who see my paintings will share not only what I saw but also what I felt".
All my paintings are one of a kind, heirloom quality originals. Each painting begins as a sketch of a real place completed in the "Plein Air" method using the "Alla Prima" style to quickly capture what I see before the light changes dramatically. Working in oils, my palette consists of just 3 primary hues, a red, yellow and blue plus 2 tints, (black and white). From those I mix all the beautiful colors in my paintings.
Most of my paintings will be created on 5"x7" or 8"x10" canvases although buyers can commission a larger original painting from a smaller study or combination of studies (the studies will be included with the larger commission).
